Kwaboshwa amakholwa angama-24 esizwe seNkosi uMveli Ngcobo, ali-12 awo agwetshwa ukudutshulwa ngamasotsha phambi kwemindeni yawo nezingane zawo, izihlobo kanye nesizwe sonke seNkosi uMveli esaphoqwa ukuba siyobukela besakazwa ngenhlamvu. UMcCallum waphetha incwadi yakhe ngokuthi impi yokubhubhisa izizwe eningizimu yeTheku yathatha amasonto ayisikhombisa, okuyizinyanga ezimbili nesonto elilodwa.
Ngemuva kokubulawa kwamakholwa amasotsha abelungu aphikelela ezindaweni eziningi ezazinabantu ababesoleka ukuthi bangahle bathathe izikhali kubhekwane nabelungu. Ngenxa yokuthi izwe lase lingaphansi komthetho wamasotsha (martial law), kwaphikelelwa esizweni sakwaZondi ngaseGreytown ngenhloso yokuyobopha iNkosi uBhambatha Zondi. Amasotsha akamficanga ekhaya. Wayehambe nomkakhe uSiyekiwe (umaZuma) owayezithwele kanye nezingane zakhe ezimbili waya eSigodlweni sasoSuthu seNgonyama uDinuzulu kaCetshwayo. Inhloso yakhe kwakungukuyofuna inxiwa lokwakha ngoba wayengaphephile neze esizweni sakhe ngokuhlala egqunywa ejele.
Ukuya kwakhe oSuthu kwagqugquzelwa nangukuthi uSiyekiwe wayazana kakhulu neNkosikazi okaMawele Ngubane wesizwe saseMabomvini owayekade egcagce neNgonyama uDinuzulu ngoLwezi we-1905. Inkosi uBhambatha yabe isicela ukushiya umkayo owayezethwele kokaMawele. Lokho kwemukelwa wahlala waze watetela khona noma ingane yashona.
INkosi uBhambatha kwathi isizophindela emuva kwaNtunjambili, uMankulumana wabuza ukuthi ngabe yayingatholakala yini invanga eyayingelapha iNgonyama uDinizulu? INkosi uBhambatha yancoma inyanga eyayaziwa ngokuthi uSimiti eyayelapha izifo eziningi. Kwaboniswana ukuthi kungakuhle leyo nyanga ilandwe izokwelapha iNgonyama. Kwakhishwa uNgqengqengqe owayeyinduna yebutho uMavalana ukuba ahambe noBhambatha ukuze abuye noSimiti. Kwathi besesendleleni bebheke kwaNtunjambili, kwaqhamuka uChakijana kaGezindaka Sithole owayakhe ebaQulusini ngaphansi kweNkosi uMathutha. Wazibandakanya nabo naye wathi uphikelele khona kwaNtunjambili. Yena wayesebenzela amaphoyisa ezomoya kaHulumeni wamaNgisi aseNatali. Kwakungenzeka ukuthi wayeseyalelwe ukuthi ayobheka okwakwenzeka khona kwaNtunjambili kwazise lonke elaseNatali labe selibuswa ngamasotsha. NguBhambatha owayengakwazi lokhu ngoba yena wayehambe ungakashaywa umthetho wamasotsha.
