Udondolo lweSihlalo: Iqhaza loMntwana

Empilweni yami ngibe nenhlahla ukubona ukubusa ngaMakhosi alesi Sizwe sikaZulu amane.  Ngisebenze ngaphansi nginguNdunankulu kwamathathu kulawa amane ngoba iSilo umalume wami iNgonyama uSolomon ngimkhumbula kancane ngisemncane kakhulu. Kangilibali kodwa yisililo engasibona kwaDlamahlahla ekukhothameni kwakhe.

ISilo umzawami iNgonyama uCyprian Nyangayezizwe Bhekuzulu wangethwesa umthwalo wokuba nguNdunankulu wakhe neSizwe ngenkathi kuyokwembulwa itshe lesikhumbuzo elisedlinzeni leSilo uShaka kaSenzangakhona ngo-September ngonyaka ka-1954.

Ngaphambili kwalokho ngonyaka ka-1925 kwahambela kuleli uMntwana iPhosakubusa laseNgilandi, uMntwana u-Prince of Edward wase-Wales.  Okwathi emva kwalokho wabekwa njengeNkosi yaMaNgisi njengeNkosi u-Edward VIII.  UZulu waziwici Eshowe kulapho-ke lapha iSilo uSolomon kaDinuzulu sabeka khona ubaba uMathole kaMkhandumba njengoNdunankulu wakhe noweSizwe sikaZulu.

Ngaphambili uNqengelele kaMvulane wakhonza kwaZulu kusaphethe iNkosi uSenzangakhona, uZulu engakabunjwa ukuba yiSizwe esikhulu nesisodwa yiNgonyama uShaka kaSenzangakhona.  Nguye uNqengelele kanye noMudli kaNdaba abaya eNkosini yakwaMthethwa bayobika ukuthi iNdlunkulu uNandi nomntanakhe, uMntwana uShaka abaphathekile kahle eSigodlweni KwaNobamba.  Ngenxa yalokho sebezofika emzini weNkosi uDingiswayo ukuzofaka amakhanda.  Ziningi izinto ezimqoka azenzayo ekufikeni kwakhe KwaNobamba.  Izibongo zakhe-nje zisho lokho “Umnandi ngamondi odliwe zindlovu zakithi KwaNobamba.”  Nokunye akuveza eLembeni nxa kuzohlangana impi yakwaZulu neSizwe sakwaNdwandwe ngaphambili kwempi yaKwaGqokli.  Amasu eSilo iLembe esanqoba ngawo uNqengelele,  eluthe ngawo uMdidiyeli wamabutho akwaNdwandwe, uNoju.  Kwenye yezincwadi zikaSomlando ohlonishwayo u-James Stuart ayezibhale ngeSizulu wayethi uNqengelele wayenguMeluleki weSilo uShaka owayephambili.  Uze athi eLembeni nxa bencokola, “mfana ungakhohlwa ukuthi laba bantu obaphetheyo ngabantu beNkosi.”  Esho phela iNkosi uSenzangakhona ayekhonze ngaphansi kwayo efika evela ebukhosini bakwaButhelezi eNcakweni.

Indodana kaNqengelele uMnyamana wabuthwa yiSilo uDingane enguMkhulutshana ibutho lakhe.  KwaNodwengu sekubusa iNkosi uMpande kwezwakala izingane “abantwana” bechwaza bekhala, iSilo uMpande  sabuza ukuthi yini ledla izingane zaso, iSilo satshenwa ukuthi izingane zeNkosi zikhala-nje zishaywa nguMnyamana.  ISilo saqoqa umuzi, sathi kuMnyamana kusukela namuhla ngithi nguwe onguyise wezingane zami.  Yilokho okwenza ukuthi ngisho iSilo uMpande sithi siganisela uMnyamana indodakazi yaso uMntwana uMthabayi, owelamana noMntwana waKwaNgenetsheni uHhamu, uMnyamana wathi eSilweni, “Bayede phela mina ngingebe ngisaganwa yingane yakho ngoba sewathi nginguyise wabantabakho.”  UMnyamana wacela ukuthi iSilo asisale sesimnika umntanomnewabo uBantubensumo eMbongombongweni, wazala uMntwana uMshikila.

Ngenkathi uMntwana uCetshwayo esakhe umuzi wakhe eMangweni, iSilo uMpande esaphila uMnyamana kwakuthi  uma efuna ukumthuma, uMnyamana abonakale engekho ejwayelene noMntwana uCetshwayo ka Mpande.  Kuthe iSilo uCetshwayo angabekwa wase embeka uMnyamana kaNqengelele waba nguNdunankulu wakhe kanye noZulu.  Impi yamaNgisi noZulu ngo-1879 yayiphakwa nguMnyamana edidiyelela iSilo sasoNdini, iNkosi uCetshwayo.

Ekuthathweni kweSilo sasoNdini ngamaNgisi emva kokunqotshwa kukaZulu Ocwecweni, Ondini mhlaka 4 July  1879, iSilo uCetshwayo njengoba ayazi ukuthi laphendlini kwabo kuyephucwana ubukhosi, wathatha indodana yakhe okwakuyikuphela kwayo uMntwana uDinuzulu wathi uzomshiya ezandleni zikaZibhebhu kaMaphitha, ethi noma engowakwabo kodwa angeze alenza olubi enganeni yakhe.  Nakhu-ke uZibhebhu kaMaphitha esehlasela Usuthu ngoMandlakazi.  Kulapho-ke uMntwana waKwaMinya wakwabo weSilo uCetshwayo, uMntwana uNdabuko enoMnyamana bamlanda uMntwana uDinuzulu, wasiwa emzini kaMnyamana Ekushumayeleni.  Wakhulela Ekushumayeleni uMntwana uDinuzulu emzini kaMnyamana, namhla ethombayo wathombela emzini kaMnyamana wasoPhisweni. 

UMnyamana kuthe nxa uMalimade (Sir Melmoth Osborn) ebiza yena uMntwana uDinuzulu ephelekezelwa ngoyise ababili; uNdabuko kaMpande, uMntwana waKwaMinya noMntwana uShingane kaMpande.  UMalimade wathi uHulumeni wamaNgisi usenqume ukuthi uZibhebhu ka Maphitha kwathi ukuba Usuthu lwehlule uMandlakazi, wabaleka wayocasha eMthunzini kuJantoni.  UHulumeni uthi usembuyisela emzini wakhe eBhanganoma.  UMntwana uDinuzulu wavutha engabaselwe ethi ngeke kwenzeke ukuthi umuntu okwathi ekubuyeni kukayise iSilo uCetshwayo Ondini olumahlikihlikana uZibhebhu wamhlasela, enye indoda yaKwaMandlakazi yagwaza  iSilo uCetshwayo uqobo ethangeni.  Izikhulu zezwe ezazizobingelela iSilo zafa zalucaca, zibulawa abaKwaMandlakazi. Wathi iNkosi uDinuzulu yathi ngalesizathu akavumi ukuthi uZibhebhu abuyiswe eNyoni, ayemzini wakhe eBhanganoma.

UMalimade noHulumeni wamaNgisi base bethumela kuMnyamana bathi nguye okade enguNdunankulu kayise weNkosi uDinuzulu, futhi ukhuliswe nguye emzini wakhe Ekushumayeleni.  Bamcela uMnyamana ukuthi akeluleke iNkosi uDinuzulu ukuthi ingaphikisi isinqumo sikaHulumeni ukuthi uZibhebhu kabuyele ekhaya eBhanganoma.  UMnyamana weluleka iNkosi uDinuzulu wathi: “Mntanami kuyenzeka yini ukuthi uma umuntu ehola isimaku sakhe ngoqhotho bese wena usishaya, ucabange ukuthi angakuyeka – ingani uZibhebhu simaku sikaHulumeni wamaNgisi uthi angakuyeka kanjani amaNgisi.”

ISilo uDinuzulu akaze ayihhoya eyaleso seluleko sikaMnyamana.

Waphinda uHulumeni wathi uMnyamana akaye ehlathini KwaCeza lapha iSilo uDinuzulu sasesihlomisa khona impi.  Kwafinyaniseka  ukuthi uMnyamana wayesekhulile kakhulu engebe esahamba ngezinyawo ayokweluleka iNkosi ehlathini KwaCeza.  UMnyamana wasethuma inkosana yakhe, uTshanibezwe ukuba aye ehlathini  KwaCeza, ukuba ayoncenga iSilo uDinuzulu ukuthi kalalele lokhu okushiwo nguHulumeni wamaNgisi, ayeke ukuhlomisa impi yoSuthu.

Ngenxa yokuba amabutho ayesehlomile ehlathini uHulumeni wamaNgisi wanikela ithimba lamasotsha ukuphelekezela indodana kaMnyamana uTshanibezwe.  Kuthe-nje sebesebudebuduze nasehlathini elinye ibhojongwana lamasotsha laqhumisa isibhamu.  UTshanibezwe wathi iSilo besingashongo ukuthi sizohlasela, akubuyelwe emuva okungcono.

Kwase kusuka isigejane sasoSuthu neNduna enkulu yasoSuthu uMankulumana ka Somaphunga Ndwandwe sabaxosha laba abahamba noTshanibezwe.  Kuthe lapho ihhashi likaTshanibezwe selidiniwe babafica.  Elinye ibhojongwane ebuthweni eliholwa nguMankulumana lathi akagwazwe uTshanibezwe.  Wakuvimba lokho uMankulumana wathi, “Angaze agwazwe lapha enzeni umtakaMnyamana?”  Nempela ababenza lutho.

Kungalesosikhathi lapho uMnyamana njengoba esahlonishwa athi yena useyazehlukanisa nalezi zenzo.  Wathi angabe esaphinde angene kulempi esihlonyiswa yiSilo uDinuzulu.  Waqhubeka uMnyamana wathi abantu bakwaButhelezi ngabantu beNkosi ngeke abavimbele nxa bejoyina iSilo.  Wathatha indodana yakhe eNsukaze, uMathentamo nendodana yakhe emzini wakhe wakwaNhlonga, uSimelwano wathi abahambe bajoyine iSilo esasintanganye nabo bobabili beyiMbokodebomvu, uPhefeni.

Izitha zikaMnyamana zase zithi ngokwenza konke lokhu uMnyamana usembuke iNkosi.

Nempela yena uMnyamana nababeza emuva kwakhe njengoTshanibezwe inkosana yakhe kuze kufike kuMathole kababange besaya eNdlunkulu.  Kwaze kwavela ingxabano phakathi koMntwana uMnyayiza kaNdabuko, uMntwana omkhulu waKwaMinya kanye neNduna enkulu uMankulumana ka Somaphunga sekuphethe-ke manje iSilo uSolomon Maphumzana ka Dinuzulu.  ISilo uSolomon wathi nxa ethi uyayikhuluma lendaba yalengxabano, impi icishe iqubuke phambi kwakhe waze waxoxa nebandla ethi akazi ukuthi angasizwa ngubani nxa kunjena.  Yilapho-ke lapho kwaqhamuka yona iNduna enkulu yasoSuthu, uMankulumana kaSomaphunga wathi: “Phela abanikazi balomuzi weNkosi kwakungabakwaButhelezi.  Wathi-ke abasalubeki lapheNdlunkulu,”  ISilo uSolomon wasebuza ukuthi konje ngubani ophethe kwaButhelezi.  Kwathiwa nguMathole.  Wasethi uzombiza-ke yena azomelekelela.

Nempela wathumela  ebiza uMathole.  Ngizwa ukuthi umuzi wakwaButhelezi nawo wanqamkana phakathi; abanye bethi angabesavuma ubaba uMathole ukuya Osuthu.  Nokho wanquma ukuba aye.  Kuthiwa udaba walukhuluma ngobuhlakani obubabazekayo uMathole.  Kwathi noma icala lilahle yona iNduna enkulu uMankulumana, bathi wathi uMankulumana ebonga isinqumo; “MtakaMnyamana ukuba umuntu ufana nensimbi uyacangcatheka, ngabe ngicela nami kengibuyele phansi ngikubone,” eneliswe yibulungiswa bakaMathole noma wayelahle yena ngecala.

Emuva-ke kwalokhu lapha iSilo uSolomon ka Dinuzulu waqala waganisela uMathole omunye wawodadewabo, uMntwana uMagongobelana owayesekhuleliswe yisoka lakhe, uMthezeleni Mbatha.  Wathi umnika uMathole, umuzi wasoSuthu banqakana, abaMntwana neNdlunkulu abanye bethi angavumi uMntwana uMagongobelana lokhu okushiwo yiSilo uSolomon, ukuthi ayogana uMathole kwaButhelezi.  Kanti naye ubaba uMathole  bathi wayethi “Bangathi nxa bengiganisela banginike umuntu oseke washaywa ngondinisa (isibhamu) ngomunye umuntu.”

Indaba yokuganiswa koMntwana uMagogo kwenziwa ngumnewabo iSilo uSolomon ngemuva kwalokhu. OSuthu laba ababegqogqa uMntwana bathi; “Ingani kukhona lokhu kwakwabo” (besho uMntwana uMagogo ngoba engowakwabo weSilo uSolomon).

Mina-ke kwaze kwanguMandulo we-1954 lapho umzawami, iSilo uCyprian Nyangayezizwe angithwesa khona  umthwalo wokuba nguNdunankulu wakhe neSizwe.  Kwakulungiselwa ukuyovulwa kwetshe lesikhumbuzo edlinzeni leSilo uShaka, KwaDukuza.

Ngebhadi iSilo uSolomon wakhothama eyokhuluma umbango kwaNgenetsheni zi-4 kuNdasa we-1933. 

Ingonyama uCyprian ngeshwa wakhothama esemncane eneminyaka engama-40 kuphela.

Kwathi ngoZibandlela kowe-1971 iSilo uGoodwill Zwelithini sangena esihlalweni KwaKhethomthandayo.  Sathandazela ukuthula nokuba iSilo sibenezinsuku ezingcono kunoyisemkhulu noyise.  Nempela iSilo uMdlokombane ubuse cishe iminyaka engama-50.  Ngezwa njengeSizwe sonke sikaZulu neNdlunkulu ubuhlungu obungachazeki sengiphinda ngithwala umthwalo futhi wokwenza amalungiselelo okubeka Ongangezwe okwesibili ngo-2021.

Ngithi iSizwe esilahlekelwa kangaka sithobekile ezinhliziyweni nxa olandela ezinyaweni zeZilo ezingaphambili iNkosi uMisuzulu kaZwelithini kusheshe kucace ukuthi nguye ofanele ukuhlala esihlalweni somzali wakhe, iSilo uMdlokombane.

Ngenyanga kaNcwaba kowe-2022 iNdlunkulu, Abantwana beziNdlu zoBukhosi naMakhosi neSizwe sanqwabelana ngendlela okungakaze kwenzeke ngayo ngaphambili ukuba uZulu abe ziwici ezingakayana eSigodlweni KwaKhangelamankengane.  Lolu kwakuyusuku olukhulu kunazozonke lokungeniswa kweSilo esibayeni.

Amakhosi kulandelana enze imilando yawo ehlukene.

ISilo iNkosi uShaka wadala umbuso omkhulu nokwakha uZulu ngezigaba zakhe.

INkosi uDingane kaSenzangakhona wazama ukuvikela izwe likaZulu seliqala ukuzulelwa ngamanqe.

INkosi uMpande ka Senzangakhona wazama ukuletha ukuthula ngokubonisana nokuxoxisana kunokulwa ngezikhali, wazama ukuvika amaNgisi ngapha nokuvika amaBhunu ngapha.  Noma lanephuzeka elikaMjokwane kaNdaba.

INkosi uCetshwayo kaMpande washiya umlando ongasoze ucime mhla amabutho akhe eguqisa impi yamaNgisi eSandlwane, kwadinga ukuba amaNgisi aqoqe amabutho amaNgisi angaphezulu kwamasotsha aguqisa ngawo iSizwe esikhulu njengezwe laseNdiya.

INkosi uDinuzulu ka Cetshwayo nguyena owenza umzabalazo wabampisholo wokugcina, ebhekene eziqwini zamehlo nombuso owawunamandla emhlabeni wonke ngalesosikhathi, umbuso wamaNgisi.  Wakhokha ngokudingiswa kabili yiwo eSentelina (St Helena) naseNtilasifali, eMhluzi (Middleburg) lapho aze akhothamela khona ezintabeni epulazini i-Uitkyk Farm.

INkosi uSolomon Maphumzana kaDinuzulu wenza umsebenzi omkhulu ehlanganisa iSizwe sikayise esasesihlukaniswe okwamaqana esibhuda, esebenza nabaholi beSizwe oDr Langalibalele Dube noDr Seme naMakhosi ayesehlukaniswe noBukhosi beSilo ngokwenza kukaHulumeni wamaNgisi.

Ezinsukwini zami zokugcina ngisazimisele ukwenza noma yini iSilo neSizwe ababheke ukuba ngifake kukho ihlombe, ukukhuphula iSizwe.  Nxa ngibheka emuva lapho sengidlule khona ngibona izintaba namathafa engidlule kuwo.  Ngeke nezibuhlungu lapho kwakuzatshalazelwa ukuba iNkosi yethu ingabinaqhaza ezingxoxweni ngekusasa lezwe, engedlula kuzo ngilwela uBukhosi beSilo.

Mayelana naloludaba ngangizimisele ukwenza noma yini, ukuvika ukuthi iSilo, ubukhosi, naMakhosi kwenziwe into engathi shu!  Ngehluleka ukwakha umkhanya nxa ubukhosi beSilo kuzanywa ukuba benziwe indiva. Iqembu lami Inkatha lacishe laphela nya sesinqume ukungayi okhethweni.  Ziningi izindlela lokhu ukumela kwami loludaba ezazitolikwa ngazo ngaze nganyamanambana.  Igama lami labhixwa ngazozonke izinhlamba egameni leQembu elibusayo.

Mhla zili-19 kuMbasa kowe-1994, uMengameli uMnu uFW de Klerk kanye nami sasayina isivumelwano esibophezelayo ukuthi udaba loBukhosi beSilo luzoxoxwa emva zingama-27 kuMbasa we-1994.  Into okuze kubenamuhla engabange isenziwa.  UMnu uDe Klerk nxa ngimbuza ngaloludaba lwesivumelwano, wathi uMandela ucishe amudle luhlaza.

Ngacindezela uMnu de Klerk ngoba iphalamende isivaliwe ukuba iphalamende lihlangane ukuba ishicilelwe esakhiweni sesikhashana (Interim Constitution) kusakhiwo sezwe ukuba siyaqinisekisa ukuthi isakhiwo sezwe siyakushicilela ukuthi ubukhosi bukaZulu buyisakhiwo esamukelekayo. Ngathumela uMntwana uGideon noMntwana uReginald ka Magangeni, eMahhashini; noMntwana uBonga Mdletshe noDr Sipho Mzimela ukuba baye ephalamende ngalolosuku.

Ngabuye ngashaya umthetho njengomthetho wokugicna Ingonyama Trust Land.  Nawolomthetho wokugcina esawushaya njengoMkhandlu Oshayumthetho waKwaZulu. Into engiyenzile ngempumelelo, ngaphumelela ukuvikela ukuba bonke abantu abampisholo  eNingizimu ne-Afrika bangabizihambi ezweni lethu (foreigners).  Njengalabo abase bethathe ubuzwe baseTranskei, eBophuthatswana, eVenda nase-Ciskei.  Sebezikhethele bona ukuthi bazihambi (foreigners) ku-87 percent yezwe laseNingizimu Afrika.  Mina ngalesosikhathi sasikhuluma nezinye izinhlanga lapha KwaZulu-Natal, sesiphethe isifundazwe ngeJoint Executive Authority, uHulumeni wamaBhunu owaphoqelwa ukuyemukela iJEA.  Kufika u-1994-nje lapha kulesifundazwe sakithi uHulumeni waKwaZulu wayesenguhulumeni ohlanganise iKwaZulu noHulumeni wesifundazwe.

Ngangithole iseluleko ukuthi uma ngingazithathi lezezinye zalezinyathelo, izwe leli esikulo kuyoba inhlabathi yombuso (state).  Lento yayiphambene nokuthi isakhiwo sezwe siyakushicilelwa ukuthi iSilo naMakhosi bavumelekile ukuqhubeka ngokuphatha izwe njengoba kusho imithetho nenqubo yethu yomdabu.  Ngangivika lokho ukuba singephucwa zona lezicucu ezasala abamhlophe besephuca izwe.

Ngakho-ke ngokuphasisa lomthetho ngenza ukuba izwe esihleli kulo libengaphansi ngqo kweNgonyama eliphathele abantu bayo phansi kwaMakhosi.  Lomthetho usuneminyaka engu-28 waphasa.  Iqembu elibusayo lisahhomzela namanje ngoba befisa lomthetho wesulwe noma uchitshelwe.  Kepha ngo-1997 wasiwa ePhalamende, eCape Town bawuchibela ngayoyonke indlela abayithandayo kodwa kusekhona izincomo zikaMhlonishwa uMnu uKgalema Motlanthe nethimba likaHulumeni abasemi ekutheni lomthetho kawesulwe noma uchitshiyelwe.  Nelinye ithimba likaMengameli lisemi lapho khona uMhlonishwa uKgalema Motlanthe emi khona.  Lomthetho uyemukelwa futhi nayinkantolo yokugcina (Constitutional Court).  Kuphela mina  engakuphokophela yikuthi abantu bakithi iningi labo elimpofu bakwazi ukuzilimela ukudla njengoba indlala ingaka-nje.

Ngicelwe ukuba ngilobe ngomlando wesihlalo neqhaza engaba nalo kukho.  Ngibhale ngalokho engikufiselisizwe sikaZulu.  Isizwe ngisifisela ukubumbana okwadalwa yiLembe.  Ukuzalwa kwami kwahlalelwa phansi yiSilo uSolomon nabanye njengethemba lokuthi ngiyozalwa ngudadewabo, uMntwana uMagogo Mantithi Sibilile Thombisile Ngangezinye kaDinuzulu nobaba uMathole Buthelezi uNdunankulu weSilo uSolomon ka Dinuzulu.

Nokho ngifisela bonke abantu bakithi ezweni lonke ukuba baphume emaketangeni abasekuwo obuphofu nezifo nokungalingani.

Izitha zami ikakhulu kwabanye bezindaba zezwe bayaye bathi mina ngingumholi wamaZulu (Zulu Leader) sengathi imizabalazo yami iqondene noZulu kuphela kepha empilweni ngikhuliswe abaholi abasungula lomzabalazo wabantu abampisholo, ubaba uDr Pixley ka Isaka Seme, iNkosi u-Albert Luthuli.  Ngaba semzabalazweni wabampisholo ngingena ku-African National Congress Youth League, ngiselibhungu eFort Hare.  Yilowo mzabalazo esengibekuwo yonke impilo yami.  Kodwa angisiboni isizathu sokuthi ngixolise ngengikwenze lapha, ngidabuka khona KwaZulu nasebukhosini bukaZulu.

Ngiyadinga uma kukhona iNgonyama esesihlalweni ukuba ngibeke amathemba okuyaphambili eqhulwini ohlala ekhona njalo nje.
